REFLECTION

EXPERIENCES
At the beginning of this module, I had literally zero knowledge of typography let alone design module generally. But along the way, I find myself slowly loving the subject. 14 weeks have passed by and I gained a lot of knowledge and new skills that are not only for typography but also for other subjects. I learned new terminologies about lettering that I never knew existed and gain a better understanding on the power of typeface, compositions, and also to express the meaning of the word without having to rely on graphic elements. On the other hand, I also get to learned how to animate and get a basic understanding of how to generate typeface using FontLab. At the start of every project/exercise, I found myself struggling and there were several times, I even questioned myself if I was creative enough for this course, but with constant feedback and critique from Mr. Vinod and Mr. Sam, I've improved a little by little. It is said that small progress is also progress. Hence, I particularly found Mr. Vinod and Mr. Sam support were incredibly helpful and I believed that they make a great team to push every student to their best capabilities.

OBSERVATION
I realize that no matter how much effort we put into something, there is always a way to improve our work. From this module, I realized that we can never have enough ideas, instead, there are more ways and opportunities to create more quality work than what we already have. There are several things I've come to observe throughout this module, things about me personally and knowledge on typography. Personally, I've always been one to be harsh on myself and rely on others for their opinion, especially when it comes to things that I was unsure about it. However, this course has made me become tougher and made me learn to just go with the flow. I'd say I'm now confident expressing myself be it creative means or simply just by talking and sharing my ideas.

FINDINGS
During this semester, I discovered that I've learned a lot from this course, in fact, more than I expected. I learned how to use Adobe Illustrator and FontLab as well as creating animation and generating font designs. All through this course, there were new several skills that I picked up on and apply to other design modules. I also noticed that small changes can make a big difference. All in all, I believe the things that I have learned in typography will be beneficial to me all the way through my design journey.
