LECTURES

Week 01: Introduction / Briefing
23/08/2021

During our first class, Mr Fauzi explained briefly on the MI and walk us through the Google Classroom as we will be utilising the platform for this module. At the same time, we were required to set up our E-portfolio (blog) and Google Classroom. The E-portfolio comes in handy where we have to update constantly and compiled all of our design-related assignments/projects, submissions as well as keeping track on our progression throughout the semesters. Mr Fauzi also taught us the importance of Photoshop and shared some keypoints on being a successful graphic designers. Then, Mr Fauzi showed us senior's past assignments as our guidance and what to expect from this module.

TUTORIAL

As for our tutorial session, Mr Fauzi told us that we need to design an art collage using newspapers, old magazines, fabrics, photographs, recycled items, and etc as for our first task. Mr Fauzi also showed us the demonstration of himself creating the art collage.

PRACTICAL

1. Bezier Game
I've been struggling to finish this game and it actually takes me a few days to finish every stage. Although, at times I really wanted to give up as I can't see myself to complete the stage at all. But with a little bit of patience that I still had in myself, I insisted on completing the game. After all, I think it is actually pretty fun once you get the hang of it. Not sure if ending with 15 nodes to spare makes me an amateur student or it just shows that I'm very bad when it comes to completing the game.

4. 3 Favourite Graphic Design Work:

Katy Edling

I stumbled across this beautiful collage by Katy Edling with its minimal, simplicity, aesthetic, and elegance in her artwork. The artist uses a combination of grainy photographs (mainly models/people), cutouts of flowers and texts as well as adding her own little calligraphy handwriting to every of her art pieces. Edling's collage flawlessly executed many of the design principles mainly on the composition, balance, emphasis and harmony.

More Heart by Jane Davies

This collage art piece by Jane Davies stood up as it depicts the use of different materials such as shapes, colours and texture by assembling bits of coloured papers, photographs, texts, found objects and etc resulting in a new whole form of visual arts. As we are working on creating the collage art for our next exercise, this would be a great example of the collage art.

Lauren Martin

I personally loved and obsessed over Lauren Martin's artwork for a while now. I am in love with Martin's groovy, vibrant style, and cartoonish feasts in her illustrations and posters. Not only do I adore the colour palatte, the artist also conveyed impactful, pithy text that conveys her message simply through her artwork.
